We are taking you step-by-step, ingredient-by-ingredient, through one of our new fall recipes, explaining every inch of body-loving that our meals give.

Julienned Sweet Potato w/ Green Curry & Cooling Cilantro 

Thinly julienned sweet potato noodles bathed in a creamy curry dressing and spiced with fresh herbs, laid over a bed of dark leafy greens. 

Sweet Potato - Let’s start with the star of the show. Did you know that the color of your food is an indicator of its nutritional content? When you look at a bright orange – or even purple – sweet potato, you are being told that this little guy comes packing an array of revitalizing nutrients, including potassium, vit C, calcium, and folate. Its strong antioxidant content helps destroy free radicals, fighting chronic disease, slowing the aging process, and preventing fatigue. Have you ever tried the skin? It's our favorite part :)

Curry – Each curry blend is a little different, but the Sakara blend contains a magical mixture of turmeric, coriander, cinnamon, ginger, cayenne, cardadmom, and mustard seed. This spice is doing a whole lot of NICE to your insides. Most importantly, it works as an anti-inflammatory in your body, stabilizing blood sugar, improving insulin sensitivity, and escorting toxic, heavy metals out of your body.

Coconut Oil - We are nuts for the heart healthy fats in coconut oil. Coconut oil helps the hormones responsible for thyroid and blood sugar control – two systems essential in weight control-- and both improves insulin use within the body and boosts thyroid functions, including metabolism, energy, and endurance!

Cilantro – Cilantro’s health benefits range from anti-anxiety properties to stabilizing blood sugar to improving sleep. It is a huge supporter of your digestive system, stimulating the secretion of digestive fluids in the system, restoring probiotics in the intestine, and aiding in the assimilation of nutrients in the intestines. It is no surprise that we like to get spicy - especially when it calms our insides and outsides.

Miso – Miso is a complete protein, meaning it contains every amino acid that your body needs to build muscle and burn fat. It is also a fermented food, which means it helps balance the ecology of your body (yes there is a vibrant, living, hard-working ecological system inside of you!) by promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria. Grow baby grow!

Lime- Lime is an excellent source of vit c, making it a great ingredient for boosting immunity and promoting weight loss. Vit C helps the body absorb calcium, which helps curbs cravings! Although common sense would have you believe that the lime is acidic, it actually has an alkalizing effect, balancing the PH of your body and boosting its ability to protect and heal.

Ginger- Ginger holds a special place in our hearts. Because of it’s anti-inflammatory compounds, ginger is a fabulous resource for those with joint pain or arthritis. In addition to soothing and reducing pain, ginger is a carminative, promoting the elimination of intestinal gas and aiding in digestion. It is also said to have the highest vibrational energy of any food! When your body is vibrating at a high frequency, you become the proud member of a strong, healthy, and - well - vibrant body!

Coconut Milk- Coconut Milk is an excellent dairy-free , soy-free, gluten-free and nut-free alternative for those who are either lactose intolerant or trying to reduce their dairy intake for better skin.  Due to it’s lauric acid content, coconut milk is also anti-viral, anti-microbial, and anti-fungal, giving a good, strong boost to your immune system, and keeping you healthy as the weather turns colder.

Farm Fresh Greens- Oh hey, did you know that we are a fan of greens? Greens are the ultimate secret to the Sakara Life! They come packed with folic acid, potassium, magnesium, iron, vitamin K, carotenes, vitamin c, and lutein, just to name a few. They are also an excellent source of fiber and protein, keeping you full for hours on end and keeping any snacking urges at bay.  Mixing up your greens is an excellent way to ensure you are getting the variety of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients that your body needs. Enjoy the higher energy level, the flatter tummy, and that Sakara GLOW!
