Get That Summer GLOW

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the city is heating up. Time to break out those sexy string bikinis and speedos to soak up some luscious vitamin D. Do you notice how you feel after spending some time in the sun? Happier? Healthier? Sexier? Those warming rays of  sun beam joy and LOVE right into your soul. For most of us, soaking up those golden rays feels so darn good, it's easy to forget that too much sun can have negative consequences. In addition to its relation to skin cancer, too much sun exposure can lead to premature aging. The key is balance – and responsible sun protection. We all want to feel sexy in our skin, so we have to keep our skin healthy + sparkling! Sunscreen is essential for protecting our body’s largest organ from UV radiation, however, all sunscreens are not created equal. In fact, most sunscreens out there are filled with harsh, harmful chemicals that seep into your bloodstream through your beautiful skin and end up causing more harm than good. The good news is, health mavens out there have joined forces to create all natural, skin + body loving sunscreens that shield your skin without getting the harmful effects of chemical sunscreen. Each all natural sunscreen is different and we suggest spending some QT with each one to see which supports you best. Mineral sunscreen is always safe to use, although it does leave a milky hue on your skin as it is not fully absorbable. From time to time, we don’t mind the leftover lather ;) Even cooler than all natural sunscreens is the fact that some plants are naturally UV protective! This means that mother nature herself creates beauties that contain SPF (see below)! You can combine them to achieve your desired level of protection, and if you wish you can mix them with zinc or titanium dioxide (sun reflective) for an even longer lasting effect. Stay tuned for a sexy Sakara sunscreen, #recipe coming soon! -Red raspberry seed oil contains SPF 28-50 -Carrot seed oil contains SPF 38-40 -Wheatgerm oil contains SPF 20 -Avacado oil contains SPF 4-15 -Coconut oil contains SPF 2-8 In addition to taking physical measures, your diet itself can also play a role in sun protection. This means that there are actually foods that will decrease your susceptibility to sunburn once they are consumed. These heavenly gifts also work to reverse free radical damage. Tomatoes, leafy greens, omega-3’s, and healthy saturated fats are all examples of foods you should chow down on this summer to help protect your delicate skin from harmful UV rays and get you that sexy glow!
