1. Chile Peppers

Capsaicin, a chemical found in spicy peppers, increases circulation and stimulates nerve endings so you'll be sure to be all hot and bothered.

2. Almonds

Sure they're packed with skin boosting fats and vitamin E, but it's their aroma that is said to ignite passion and romance amongst women.

3. Pomegranates

Packed with antioxidants, this ancient fruit helps to protect the lining of blood vessels, allowing more blood to course through them. Research also shows that drinking their juice can boost testosterone levels up to 30%!

4. Avocados

Known as ahuacuatl, or testicle tree, to the Aztecs, the avocado has taken on sexual connotations since the beginning of time, even being forbade by Catholic priests in Spain for being too obscene. This creamy fruit is rich in folic acid, vitamin B6, and potassium, all of which are said to boost the immune system.

5. Bananas

The shape alone should be enough to convince you, but besides being loaded with potassium, magnesium, and B vitamins, bananas contain chelating minerals and bromeliad, both of which are said to enhance the male libido.

6. Basil

This sweet and spicy herb does a knockout job at boosting both the smells and flavors of a meal. It also promotes circulation and heats up the body.

7. Chocolate

Zero arm twisting on this one. We'll eat chocolate for any and all reasons we can dig up. Besides being downright sexy itself, chocolate contains the compounds anandamide and phenylethylamine, the first being a psychoactive feel-good chemical, and the second the "love" chemical. Both claim to induce excitement, attraction, and euphoria. Cacao, the pure chocolate superfood we can't get enough of, also contains tryptophan, to promote a sense of well-being and relaxation. Bring. It. On.

8. Garlic

Wait. This seems counterintuitive. But we promise if you keep a toothbrush handy, this pungent bulb will only help you later in the night. Garlic is packed with allicin, which increases blood flow, and is sure to add all the flavor you're looking for.

9. Honey

Often referred to as the nectar of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, honey has long been associated with sexual desire. In medieval times, people would sip on the fermented honey drink, mead, to increase their passions. This sweet and sticky syrup is a good source of boron, a trace mineral that helps the body use and metabolize estrogen, and also enhances testosterone production, promoting sex drive and pleasure in both men and women. Honeymoon anyone?

10. Figs

One of the oldest recorded fruits, fig leaves were said to be used by Adam and Eve to cover their privates, are reported to be Cleopatra's favorite food, and used by the ancient Greek to promote love and fertility. If it ain't broke...

11. Asparagus

In 19th-century France, grooms were given three servings of this natural aphrodisiac before sealing the deal. Asparagus, bursting with potassium, fiber, vitamins B6, A, and C, thiamin, and folic acid, is said to increase histamine production, which is necessary for reaching an orgasm in both sexes.

12. Red Wine

Besides everything seeming a little better after some alcohol, this vine-ripened variety has some scientific proof to back it up. Red wine contains resveratrol, an antioxidant that helps boost blood flow, circulation, and sends your lust into overdrive.
