'Lemonade' Inspired Lemonade

Nothing that Beyonce does is ordinary. With the release of her latest album, lemonade is no longer just a drink but a movement (or should we say 'Formation'). From her beats to her body, to her style and vision, everything she creates has a little more soul, a little more individuality, and a lot more power. Bey, the ever inspiring, trend-setting, power-house that she is; so why not make some Lemonade inspired lemonades?

And what else do our all natural, superfood-rich lemonades have in common with Queen B? They're both fierce, fearless, and flawless

As Jay Z's grandmother is heard saying at the end of Lemonade's last track "Freedom",

"I had my ups and downs, but I always found the inner strength to pull myself up. I was served lemons, but I made lemonade."

Your turn...

Happy Lemonade-making, Sakaralites.

  • 2 cups water
  • Raw honey or natural sweetener of choice, to taste
  • 3 Tbsp dried lavender
  • 2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 lemon, sliced (for garnish)

Bring two cups of water to a rolling boil. Add in raw honey and dried lavender and stir. Remove from heat and cover for about 15 minutes, allowing mixture to steep. Strain lavender, making sure to release all juices and syrup.

In a large pitcher, combine freshly squeezed lemon juice, lavender mixture and water. Feel free to add a drop of (natural!) blue coloring and a drop of red to mixture to give it a lovely purple color. Chill for at least 2 hours and serve over ice.

  • 5 slices of dried dragon fruit but fresh works well too!
  • 1/4 freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Water
  • Raw honey or natural sweetener of choice, to taste

Place the dragonfruit slices and lemon juice in quart-sized mason jar or big mixing bowl, and fill the remainder of the jar with water. Add sweetener of choice, to taste. Refrigerate for a minimum of 30 minutes, up to overnight. Remove dragonfruit slices before serving.

  • 2 Tbsp. Goji Berries
  • 1 1/2 cups of water
  • Juice of 1 half lemon
  • Raw honey or natural sweetener of choice, to taste

Soak goji berries in water for at least one hour to soften. Pour goji berries and soaked water into a blender with remaining ingredients, blend on high until completely mixed. Pour into a glass with plenty of ice and lemon slices.
