Focus: Legs

What To Do: 20x Lateral Shuffle to Touch (3-5 steps in each direction = 1) + 30 seconds Lateral Bounds

 

With feet outside your hips, move sideways in one direction for 5 steps then touch down between your feet with one hand before heading straight back in the other direction. Try and stay in a low atheltic stance throughout this movement to really work the legs and keep your chest lifted throughout the move, even when you touch down. This exercise will improve your speed and agility whilst targeting inner thighs!

 

Starting on both feet, drive your weight sideways to land on one foot while the other leg darts behind your body without the foot touching down. Leap back in the other direction and land low every time. Keep your chest up and core braced tight, eyes forward! Go for more speed and range as you get comfortable.

How To Read a Nutritional Label

You can trust that your Sakara meals are made with nothing but Mama Nature’s finest, purest organic produce and superfoods. But the same can’t be said for every item in your local grocery store. We de-mystified some common food label terms to help make your next shopping trip a little healthier: 

ALL NATURAL: The FDA allows this term to be used as long as there are no artificial flavors or “synthetic substances” present. What this means is that “all natural” products can contain preservatives and be injected with processed ingredients.

HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP: Derived from corn, but laden with processed sugar. And more than likely, genetically modified.

WHOLE WHEAT: Not all whole wheat is created equal! In order for it to be a good choice, it must say “100% whole wheat/grain.” “Made with whole grain” doesn’t cut it.

FAT-FREE: Remember that to make fat-free products taste better, the fat is replaced with processed sugar.

MADE WITH REAL FRUIT: Sure, but how much real fruit? Brands aren’t required to state the percentage, so you still might be getting lots of artificial ingredients.

ORGANIC: If it has a USDA label on it, 95% or more of the ingredients must have been grown or processed without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. But this is not to be confused with a label that boasts "made with organic ingredients,” which could be only a minimum of 70% of contents meeting the standards.

Week 4: The Closet Challenge

Most of us have at least one outfit hanging in our closets that we’ve always wanted to wear, dreamed of wearing, but have never felt good enough in our bodies to actually wear.

This week, your challenge is to dig that outfit up, put it on, look in the mirror...and smile. Look yourself in the eye and say, “I look GREAT!” Wear that outfit with confidence. Rock it. Take a photo of yourself looking happy and powerful in the outfit. Release the fears you’ve been holding onto that prevent you from wearing whatever you want, whenever you want. Replace the dialogues about not being “_____ enough” to wear the outfit. You are enough. You look amazing.
