Each meal is nutritionally designed to contain the optimal amount of plant-based protein, hydrating fresh produce and nutrient-dense superfoods to help balance, restore and heal your body, so you can look and feel your absolute best. What are my options when getting started with a meal program?
To get started, first choose whether you'd like to "Taste it" with a one-week program or "Live it" with a subscription that recurs weekly. Depending on your delivery zone, you may also choose the number of days you would like to receive meals (3 or 5 days) and which meals you would like to receive (breakfast, lunch and/or dinner). How do Sakara subscriptions work?
A Sakara subscription is the easiest, most convenient, most cost-effective option for living the Sakara Life! Because we know that the most life-changing results occur when you eat our way the majority of the time, a Sakara subscription ensures you never have to miss a single week of clean, wholesome meals. (That’s one less thing you have to think about, in addition to meal planning, grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning up.) We’ll charge your card on a recurring weekly basis, and you’ll receive complimentary delivery while enjoying the best value we offer for our coveted meal delivery program. There is absolutely no commitment – you can skip weeks of your subscription if you're traveling or simply want a break, increase or decrease your meals for any given week, and cancel your subscription at any time without any penalty. In addition, subscribers benefit from exclusive access to products, special programs, and events.
Many of the toxins we absorb come from the produce that we eat. Non-organic fruits and veggies are treated with pesticides and contain GMOs (genetically modified organisms). These toxic chemicals enter our system, accumulate over time and wreak all kinds of havoc on our bodies. Organic produce, on the other hand, is not only free of these chemicals, but is also more nutritious and more flavorful as a result. It's cleaner, fresher, healthier and a whole lot tastier!
Can Sakara accommodate my food allergies?
For clients in the northeast (NYC, Connecticut, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington DC areas), southern California and San Francisco area, we accommodate up to three select allergies for an additional fee, which you will find in Step 5 of the order page. Keep in mind that our programs are nutritionally designed and already free of gluten, dairy, eggs, meat and seafood. If you select an allergy, you may receive a meal substitution. For clients in the rest of the U.S., we are unfortunately unable to accommodate allergies at this time.
Please note, we do our best to accommodate allergies, but do not provide a product for people with medically-necessitated diets or severe allergies.
Can I choose my menu?
We offer a set menu of delicious meals that rotates weekly as well as seasonally. While you can’t pick and choose specific meals, rest assured that each is nutritionally designed for optimal health and crafted with the help of gourmet chefs using the best-quality organic ingredients available—meaning you and your body will love them.
What comes in each delivery?
Our meal delivery includes up to 3 meals per day (breakfast, lunch and /or dinner depending on your program) + functional waters (Beauty Water if you order breakfast or lunch, and Detox Water if you order dinner) + Detox Tea. The water and tea are critical to staying hydrated and an integral part of the Sakara Life. The waters are specially formulated to help alkalize the body, remove impurities, and ease inflammation. The tea is a unique caffeine-free blend of cleansing plants and herbs that gently detoxifies the body and helps increase your daily water intake.
Do I have to cook anything?
No! Sakara organic meals are designed by world renowned chefs, crafted around the highest-quality ingredients, and prepared with loving hands in our kitchens. Meals arrive ready to eat and are crafted to taste great cold or heated so you can eat them wherever you are. (…Just think of the time you’ll save from not having to shop, chop, cook, or clean!).
Can the meals be heated?
Our meals are designed to taste delicious cold so you can enjoy them wherever you are, but most can be heated up if you’d prefer a warm meal! Meals that are even better heated have a flame on their meal label. In general, we recommend heating your meals gently on your stovetop or in your oven/toaster oven. Try tossing your whole dinner (greens and all!) into a wok with a bit of avocado, olive or coconut oil and turning it into a tasty stir-fry! For more guidance, check out our heating tips here.
Does the program include snacks?
Not at the moment—here’s why: Digestion requires a lot of energy, so when you are constantly feeding your body more food, it does not get the chance to rest, rejuvenate and repair. Not snacking will help you make the most of this program and reap all the benefits of its cleansing, healing effects. If you find yourself getting hungry between meals, try drinking some water or a cup of tea. Sometimes when we are hungry, our body is really telling us that we’re dehydrated!
That being said, the #1 rule on the Sakara program is to listen to your body. If you are excessively hungry, please have a snack! Just stick to clean, whole foods (we recommend raw veggies, a small handful of nuts or some low-glycemic fruit, like berries or an apple) or try one of our functional, organic Clean Boutique snacks.
What is the return policy for Sakara's meal delivery programs?
Refunds will not be issued once a program has started. With 48-hours notice prior to your delivery, meal days can be paused and credited (not refunded) to your account to reschedule in the future. Credited meal days do not expire, and you can email us to reschedule!
Will I be able to go about my daily activities (work, exercise, travel, social activities) while on Sakara programs?
Most people have no problem going about their daily activities while on any of our programs. If you are on the Sakara Level II: Detox, we recommend that you consider lessening your workouts while you adjust to the program and listen to your body, particularly if you experience fatigue. We also recommend adjusting your calendar so that you can commit to the Detox as designed. If you are traveling or have social commitments during the Detox that prevent you from fully committing to the program, it could impact your results.
How soon can I begin?
To receive our meal delivery program, sign up by Friday at midnight PST for delivery the following week. We sometimes sell out due to high demand!

How many deliveries will I receive?
Because Sakara meals are made with the highest quality, fresh organic ingredients, we deliver no more than 3 days of meals at a time. As a result, if you ordered a 3-day meal program, you will receive your meals in 1-2 deliveries (depending on your location). If you ordered a 5-day meal program, you will receive your meals in 2-3 deliveries (depending on your location). To view the delivery days for your region, review “How It Works” when selecting your program.
When do you deliver?
Sakara meal programs will be delivered in whichever time window you select when ordering your program. To view the delivery windows available for your region, go here, enter your zip code in Step 2, and see the delivery windows available in Step 4. Depending on your location, you do not need to be home for delivery – if you feel comfortable, we will leave your delivery on your doorstep or with your doorman. Please specify delivery instructions when purchasing your program.
We use third party shipping carriers for our meal deliveries, including FedEx and hand-delivery partners who will notify you of your delivery status. We are not responsible for delays in delivery due to incorrect or incomplete addresses. Deliveries that are returned or require rerouting due to incorrect addresses may be subject to additional charges for redelivery. When deliveries are delayed due to weather, we will do our best to alert you in advance, but some circumstances are beyond our control and we cannot guarantee delivery windows. We are not liable for failed deliveries due to weather.
Do you deliver on weekends?
We do not deliver on Saturday and Sunday because weekends are full of temptations (as they should be) and we want you to get out there, live your life and enjoy it. We'll always be here for you when you’re ready to reset and start the week fresh with clean, healthy food.
Will my food stay fresh in transit?
Our delivery bags and boxes are insulated and include ice packs to keep your food at safe temperatures throughout delivery. The ice packs may no longer be frozen upon delivery, this is ok! Your food should still be cold. To ensure optimal freshness, we recommend storing meals in a refrigerator as soon after delivery as possible. All meals will stay fresh for up to three days after delivery with proper refrigeration.
What if I'm not home during delivery?
If you are not home when a delivery is made, our shipping carriers may leave your order at your doorstep or with your doorman depending on your area. You may be able to provide additional delivery instructions (e.g., leaving the delivery at the back door or with a neighbor). Please note that while our carriers will do their best to honor these special delivery instructions, we cannot guarantee that they’ll be accommodated and aren’t liable for any lost, stolen or damaged deliveries that result from these requests.
How do I modify my delivery time/address/instructions?

What do I do with the cooler bags and ice packs in my delivery?
If your meals are delivered in our black cooler bag, our delivery team will be happy to pick it up, along with any ice packs, when they bring your next delivery. You can leave your bags with your doorman, hang them on your doorknob or hand them to our delivery person directly, with the ice packs tucked inside. Alternatively, you are welcome to keep your cooler bag—especially on the last day of your program. It’s great for toting your lunch to work or packing a picnic!
If you received a white tote bag, it’s yours to keep! We encourage you to wear it around town with pride and spread the Sakara love.
If your meals are delivered in our white box, we unfortunately cannot take back your box, insulation or ice packs, except in a handful of specific geographies. Please do not leave these items out for our delivery person unless our service team has told you otherwise. Please reuse or recycle the box, and dispose of the insulation in your regular trash. The ice packs are 100% non-toxic and can be refrozen and reused! Otherwise, we recommend putting the entire ice pack in your regular trash, or cutting open the pack, squeezing the gel into your regular trash, and recycling the plastic.
Can I recycle the meal packaging?
Yes! The containers are 100% recyclable - please recycle and show Mama Earth some love.
Are the containers BPA free?
Yes! All of our plastic meal containers are BPA and phalate-free.
What are the benefits of a meal subscription vs. trial program?
A subscription to our meal delivery program is the most convenient and cost effective way to truly transform your health and vitality. Subscribers receive up to a 15% discount on our program prices and free delivery. As a subscriber, how do I skip a week of meals or change my Sakara meal program?
If you are on a subscription program, you can skip a week with no penalty by logging into your Sakara Account and looking under "Your Subscriptions.” Any changes to your subscription must be made by Thursday at midnight PST for the following week. How do I cancel my Sakara subscription?
You can cancel your subscription at any time with no penalty by logging into your Sakara Account and looking under "Your Subscriptions.” You must cancel by Thursday at midnight PST to not receive meals the following week. If I am travelling or moving, can I receive meals at a different address?
Our meal delivery program can be delivered anywhere in the continental US. If you are travelling and would like to temporarily receive meals a different address, or relocate and need to permanently update your address, please email email@example.com and we’d be happy to help you. Address change requests must be received at least 48 hours in advance of your next delivery and some changes may incur additional fees depending on your location.
Can I receive Clean Boutique products with my meals each week?
Love our bars, popcorn or other clean treats and want to receive them regularly with your meals? Good news, you can! If you have a meal subscription, you can add a subscription for products from our Clean Boutique. Simply add the products to your cart when purchasing your meal subscription or contact our Wellness Team (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we’ll be happy to help.
Every week that you receive meals, you will also receive your Clean Boutique products. If you pause your meal program, your product subscription will also automatically be paused. You can cancel your product subscription at any time at no penalty.
Why are Sakara meals healthy?
Each Sakara meal is created around our pillars of nutrition, which are based on the science behind a whole-food, plant-based diet. Our meals are optimized with the perfect balance of plant-based protein, hydrating fresh produce and nutrient-dense superfood ingredients. And they’re always 100% organic and free of common allergens like gluten and dairy. Every bite is packed with body-loving vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber to keep you glowing from the inside out! The result is brighter skin, better moods, more energy and a body you love living in.
Are your programs gluten-free?
Yes - our meals are 100% gluten-free! So many of us are sensitive or allergic to gluten without knowing it. By cutting gluten out of your diet, your body will no longer have to work overtime to digest and eliminate this foreign substance, and instead can focus on healing itself naturally.
Are your programs vegan?
Our meals are 100% plant-based, but we do occasionally use honey and bee pollen. If your diet or lifestyle requires no use of animal products whatsoever, just let us know and we will happily accommodate (note that your order will be subject to an allergy fee).
Is there enough protein in Sakara's meal program?
Yes! Our program is designed to give you all of the bioavailable, easy-to-digest plant-based protein you need to build lean muscle, trigger metabolic functions in your body and keep your energy soaring. Some of our favorite plant-based protein sources are quinoa, hemp seeds, spirulina, nuts, chia seeds, beans and even kale (there are 4 grams of protein in each cup!).
Are your meals raw or cooked?
Both! For example, you’ll find lots of raw leafy greens in our meals, but also plenty of cooked veggies and grains. In fact, some foods, such as carrots and tomatoes, are actually healthier for you if they're lightly cooked because they are easier to digest and their nutrients are more readily available for absorption in your body. Moreover, eating completely raw isn’t the most accessible or sustainable lifestyle for the majority of people, and our goal is to help you learn healthy, easy, fun wellness habits that you’ll want to stick to.
Are the meals all salads?
No! Our meals include a wide variety of nourishing salads, plant-based burgers, pastas, grain bowls, soups, curries, flatbreads, baked goods, and more. However, greens are fundamental to Sakara and play a prominent role in most meals because they are one of the best things you can put into your body. Greens are rich in fiber, plant protein, antioxidants and must-have minerals. They feed your microbiome (the beneficial bacteria in your gut), assist in the detoxification process and they’re super-hydrating to give your skin a youthful glow. We pack 4-6 cups of greens in each lunch and dinner in a variety of forms (raw, shredded, sautéed, wilted, baked, etc.). Eating so many greens may feel challenging at first, but it's where your most life-changing results will come from.
Can I choose my meals?

Can you accommodate food allergies?
When purchasing your program, you may select up to three ingredients to exclude from your meals due to allergies. There is an additional fee to accommodate these exclusions. If you have a severe allergy, we do not recommend our program. Keep in mind that our programs are already completely free of gluten, dairy, eggs, meat, and seafood! Please contact our Wellness Team (email@example.com) if you have any questions about what we can accommodate. In addition, all of our meals have ingredient labels on the side of the container if you’re ever concerned about the ingredients in a particular dish.
I am very active. Will I be hungry?
We know from experience that eating this way will help you regain your natural intuition about hunger and fullness. Through this program, you’ll build a body you can really listen to! And when you tune into the signals your body is sending you, you’ll be able to nourish yourself effectively and break free from the food-related habits that are holding you back from achieving your goals. You’ll learn how to distinguish true, physical hunger from emotional hunger (the kind that comes from boredom, stress, habit etc.) and dehydration. If you have dietary needs that require a higher caloric intake (or if listening to your body tells you that you just need a little more to eat), you are welcome to supplement your Sakara meals with clean, whole foods or snacks from our Clean Boutique. You can even order an additional program with a meal of your choice and still keep living the Sakara Life! Whatever you decide, you can be sure you’re getting all the nutrients you need to feel your best each day.
Is this enough food for men to eat?
Absolutely! We have lots men on our program and they’re thriving. Everybody is different and every body is different, so it is important to pay attention to your body’s needs. The amount of food you need to feel your best is dependent on a number of things such as your natural metabolism, your level of physical activity and your lifestyle. That said, our clients—men very much included—are often surprised by how satisfying these meals are due to their nutrient density (thank you, plant-based superfoods!). When you’re nourishing your body with all of the nutrients you need, you'll find that you won't be as hungry as when you’re eating less nutrient-dense foods, even in higher volumes. However, we still want you to listen to your body, so honor your feelings of hunger by supplementing your Sakara program with clean, whole foods as needed.
I am pregnant/breast-feeding. Is Sakara safe for me?
First of all, congratulations! We have pregnant and nursing mamas on the Sakara signature meal program each week, and they find that the program supports them very nicely during their motherhood journey. The most important rule while on the program is to listen to your body, so while some of our Sakara moms thrive on the program as-is, others find that they feel best when supplementing the meals with clean, whole food snacks and/or animal protein. We always recommend speaking to your healthcare provider before making any changes to your diet during this special time! We do not recommend the Sakara Level II: Detox Program if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
How many calories are in each meal?
This issue is so important to us—in fact, it’s one of our key pillars of nutrition! We don’t count calories because we don’t believe they’re a good metric for measuring a food’s nutritional quality. So instead of calories, we count things like vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and colors. And instead of worrying about nutrition facts, we want you to focus on how food makes you feel. All of our meals are nutritionally designed and perfectly portioned to fuel your body with the optimal amount of nutrients in the form of clean, whole, real foods, so you don’t need to stress about the number of calories you’re eating.
Will I lose weight?
The Sakara Life meal delivery program is designed to fuel your body with everything it needs to thrive, so you can look and feel your absolute best. It’s not a diet—it’s a lifestyle that’s all about taking care of yourself and making your health a priority. For some people, that may mean shedding excess weight; countless clients have had success losing weight on this program (just check out our testimonials!). While any program we offer will help you achieve your health goals, a Sakara subscription is the best way to see truly life-changing results. And if you want to maximize the program’s slimming effects, consider cutting out snacking and drinking alcohol, which can sabotage your weight loss efforts. Remember that you can always reach out to us along the way—we’re here to educate, support and love you throughout every step of this journey, and we’re excited to help you accomplish your wellness goals, whatever they may be.
Do I need to cut out caffeine and alcohol when on the program?
Caffeine and alcohol are taxing your body’s systems – think dull skin, sluggish digestion, roller-coaster moods, excess weight and low energy. We don't prescribe cutting them out entirely (remember, this isn’t a diet!), but you will see the best results if you take an occasional break. Try it with your meal program and see how great you feel!
Are Sakara programs safe for children?
Our Sakara signature meal program is suitable for children and full of nourishing whole foods. We do not recommend the Sakara Level II: Detox program for anyone under the age of 18. We encourage you to speak with your healthcare provider if you have any concerns about our programs prior to starting.
Are Sakara programs safe if I am on prescription medication?
We always recommend speaking with your healthcare provider prior to starting a Sakara program if you have any health conditions or are taking prescription medications or nutritional supplements. This is especially encouraged for the Sakara Level II: Detox program.
Do Clean Boutique products ship nationwide?
Yes! Anyone in the continental U.S. can live the Sakara Life with the help of functional snacks and pantry products from the Clean Boutique.
How long does shipping take?
Most orders are received 4-7 business days after you place the order. That reflects the time it takes to process your order + deliver (typically via FedEx Smart Post). Select items, like dressings and promotional items, may require extra days for processing and will be noted at checkout. You may receive your order in partial shipments so all of your products are delivered as fresh as possible. If there is an unforeseen delay, we will make every effort to notify you.
Can my Clean Boutique order be delivered with my meals?
All Clean Boutique items will be shipped separately via FedEx Smart Post with love.
Why does my confirmation email only list some of the products I purchased?
If you ordered multiple items from our Clean Boutique, they may ship separately based on size and availability. If this is the case, you will receive two shipping confirmation emails. Two packages to open = double the fun! Feel free to get in touch with us if you have additional questions about your order—we’re here to help you!
What is the return policy for Sakara's clean products?
Since our products are handcrafted and made-to-order with fresh ingredients, we cannot accept returns. All sales are final. If a product arrives damaged or you have concerns, please contact our Wellness Team (firstname.lastname@example.org). We do our best to ensure a flawless experience and deliver our products with lots of love.
How long do the Superfood Salad Dressings last?
We recommend refrigerating your Superfood Salad Dressing as soon as possible and enjoying it within two weeks for maximum freshness. However, most of our dressings will keep for up to four weeks refrigerated! Please refer to the specific expiration information on the product pages.
