With its color-changing magic (it naturally transforms from blue to pink as you progress through the recipe), science-backed benefits, and deeply refreshing taste, this homemade hydration shot will have you off sugary sports drinks for good.

It’s a genius combination of anti-inflammatory, water-rich, gut-soothing ingredients that’ll help support your wellness goals while deeply quenching your thirst. We recommend keeping a batch handy in the fridge all summer.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup sliced okra
  • 1 tbsp marshmallow root (optional)
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 2 tsp blue butterfly pea flowers
  • 1 tbsp rosewater
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
Directions:
  1. In a 32oz. jar, place sliced okra and marshmallow root. Cover with water. Allow to steep in fridge for at least 2 hours, up to 8 hours.
  2. In another jar, place chia seeds, blue butterfly pea flowers, and rose water. Cover with water. Steep for at least 1 hour, up to 8 hours.
  3. Strain okra and marshmallow root into a clean bottle, then strain chia seed mixture into the same bottle.
  4. When ready to drink, pour at least 2oz (and up to 8oz) into a cup and finish with tablespoon of lemon juice.
