As an author, TEDx speaker, and holistic somatic psychologist, Dr. Allyn’s work hinges on the study of body wisdom. She focuses on taking pressure off the mind to foster a deeper connection with our bodies, working with patients to hone their “bodyfulness”—her term for expanding our mindfulness to incorporate our physical bodies. By integrating movement into her practice, she helps them unlearn and release long-held stigmas and shame about their bodies and their pleasure, allowing them to access greater satisfaction and joy—both in their physical relationships with themselves, and their intimate relationships with others.
