Recipe: Creamy Matcha + Cacao Bark

Sometimes you need an energy boost…and sometimes you just need chocolate…

We’ve got the perfect pick-me-up to combat your mid afternoon lag. Say hello to our superfood matcha chocolate!

Matcha chocolate? That sounds indulgent…well a little indulgence never hurt anyone, especially when that indulgence is a metabolism-boosting, bacteria-fighting, antioxidant powerhouse!

This superfood sweet treat will kick your coffee’s butt. With just three amazing, body-loving ingredients, these two recipes are sure to have your taste buds singing and your body wanting more!

Matcha:

¼ cup virgin coconut oil

1 tsp matcha green tea powder

1-2 tbsp maple syrup (or other sweetener) to taste

Cacao:

¼ cup virgin coconut oil

1/8 cup unsweetened raw cacao powder

1-2 tbsp maple syrup

Directions:

  1. Heat the coconut oil and maple syrup together in a sauce pan, stirring for about 2 minutes. Remove from heat (if you heat it for too long, the sweetener will caramelize and the consistency will not be even).
  2. Mix in cacao or matcha powder. Feel free to taste as you go and add more/less according to how strong you want the flavor.
  3. Lay wax paper over a glass pan or cookie sheet and pour the mixture over the sheet so that it spreads out evenly. Feel free to sprinkle on some superfood add ins for an extra nutritional punch! We love adding hemp seeds, goji berries, nuts, and himilayan pink salt!
  4. Place the pan or sheet flat in the freezer for one hour.
  5. Remove from freezer, peel off wax paper and break into bark! The chocolate will begin to melt at 70 degrees farenheit, so store in a container in the fridge to keep it fresh.
  6. Enjoy your delicious superfood pickmeup!
