Sakara Spotlight: Cori Galpern
In the Sakara Spotlight series, we’re turning the tables on some of the amazing + accomplished souls that have chosen the Sakara Life program to enrich and fulfill their lives. Without further adieu, meet the Sakaralites!
Name? Cori Galpern
Current Position? SVP of Global Communications at Tom Ford
Why did you choose Sakara? After my second pregnancy, I developed an intolerance to dairy and an aversion to meat, so I decided to follow a plant-based diet. Since I work and have children, it was hard for me to find the time to make vegan meals. I started testing out all of the healthy food delivery services in NYC, and Sakara was by far the best. Once I started eating the food, I had more energy and felt great.
What's your favorite Sakara meal? Definitely the almond butter and jam on oat bread. I get so excited when it's on the menu.
Morning Water or Night Water? Night Water.
Have you always been a healthy eater? Yes, my mother is an amazing cook and always encouraged us to eat local, fresh and organic food. Also, diabetes runs in my family so we stayed away from processed food and sugar.
How do you stay healthy at your desk? I always bring Sakara Life and snacks to work such as green apples and Sakara bars. I also drink water and green tea throughout the day.
What does a day in the life of Cori Galpern look like? I wake up at 5:30am and go workout at Tracy Anderson. Then, I come home at 7:30, eat breakfast, shower and help both kids get ready for school. After drop off at 8:30, I head uptown to work. I usually have internal meetings in the morning and eat lunch at my desk around 12:00. The rest of the day is packed with calls, meetings and emails, as it is our busiest season with all the Award Shows and Fashion Week. I leave work around 6pm, take the subway back home and relieve my nanny at 6:45. I then eat dinner with my kids, help my older daughter with her homework and read to them before bed. I do some more work emails and catch up on all of the nominated movies with my husband before we go to bed at 10pm. Once or twice a week, I try to go out to dinner with my family and friends.
Do you have any rituals that help keep you balanced? I have to exercise every morning for my mental and physical health. Knowing that my Sakara food is coming also helps me feel balanced as it eliminates the stress of meal planning and ensures that I eat healthy, amazing meals every day.
What's a personal mantra that you always come back to? LISTEN TO YOUR INTUITION. It will never lead you astray.
If your creativity were edible, what would it taste like? Dark chocolate, because it boosts your creativity and has eight times the antioxidants found in strawberries.
If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be and what would you eat? Larry David. I enjoy spending time with people who make me laugh. I love his humor and perspective on every day occurrences and interactions with people. I would like to take him to Roberta's in Brooklyn. It's my family's favorite place to go, as they have innovative pizza and vegetarian options made from fresh, local ingredients. And, the crowd is always interesting...
