Sakara Spotlight: Amanda Kloots, Body by Simone

 In the Sakara Spotlight series, we’re turning the tables on some of the amazing + accomplished souls that have chosen the Sakara Life program to enrich and fulfill their lives. Without further adieu, meet the Sakaralites!


Name? Amanda Kloots

Sign? Pisces -- however after the last Sakara Wellness Wednesday event, the astrologer told me I was an Aries! I'm on the cusp!

Spirit animal? Giraffe! I can relate to being tall with long legs. I love how graceful they are as well.

Current position? I have many jobs! Broadway performer, actress, teacher, fitness instructor at Body By Simone, and co-creater and dessert critic for Just Desserts NYC.

Why do you choose Sakara? Like most New Yorkers I spend a lot of time working and running around this big city. I LOVE the convenience of Sakara. I always want to eat healthy but I found myself just grabbing a slice of pizza or the quickest option. Now I have beautiful, clean, healthy food that is delivered right to my door. It takes all the guessing out of eating healthy.

Favorite Sakara meal? Breakfast!!! I love the chia waffles, the cinnamon toast granola, and the sweet potato superfood bowl! Whoops, that was three favorite meals...

Morning Water or Night Water? Morning! The best way to start my day!

Have you always been a healthy eater? Yes, I have always been a healthy eater but was never gluten-free and vegan before Sakara. Now, after being on the Sakara program, I have changed my diet to vegan, and I notice such a difference in my body and energy!

What's your indulgence? I have two...naps and sweets! I love sleep and my body needs it. So I really enjoy a little nap every day. I also LOVE desserts. Ice cream, cake, cookies....I want it all!

How do you stay healthy at work My "desk" is either a fitness studio or a stage so that definitely helps me stay healthy because I am not sitting. I have to focus on staying healthy while I'm not actually working so I don't ruin the work I've done while I am at work. I really enjoy sipping on Sakara Detox Tea and having Chimes Ginger Chews when I need a little treat.

What does a day in the life of Amanda Kloots look like? My days are always different. I usually wake up pretty early. I may go right to Body By Simone to teach class and train private clients, or I might go to ballet class at Steps. I take a class with NYC Ballet and ABT dancers! It is really hard, but very inspiring. I love ballet, it is my yoga. I audition a lot for shows, commercials, dance jobs, etc. so I may have an audition in the afternoon. If I don't have an audition I might meet up with my dessert partner in crime to eat a dessert and write a review for our website. Usually by 5pm I'm done for the day and I can relax at home or spend time with family and friends.

What rituals help keep you balanced? Sundays are my day of rest! I sleep in, go to church, eat brunch, and don't lift a finger. No workouts, just rest and recharge.

Mantra? I love mantras, and have two for 2016: "Manifest what I want" and "I am awake. I am alive. I am blessed."

If your creativity were edible, what would it taste like? Hmm maybe pizza because I love pizza and could eat it for every meal every day probably. As an artist I strive to be creative and love every day!

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be and what would you eat? I would have dinner with my Grandma Kloots. She was an amazing woman that died too soon. I would take her to Eleven Madison Park for the longest possible tasting menu to have the most time with her before she went back up to heaven.
