Why We’re EXTRA-Grateful This Month

August is Gratitude Month at Sakara. As a general rule of thumb, we try to consciously practice gratitude 24 hours a day, 365 days a year because we are oh so well aware of the power these vibrations have to attract just what you want in your life. But this month we’re doubling down on those thankful vibes to help us  and you  channel these last frenetic energies of the summer into something creative, energized and powerful.

You know who else is big into gratitude? Oprah. The woman who’s rewritten the rules of success, who’s inspired millions worldwide (including us!) and who’s done more than her part to co-create change in this world. We grew up watching her on TV, in awe of the confidence she emits, motivated by her no-nonsense toughness and clarity in to what she believes, and, most of all, moved by her abundance of love.

You can’t get as far as Oprah has in life without stopping every once in a while to check in with gratitude. In fact, it was Oprah herself who said: “The single greatest thing you can do to change your life today would be to start being grateful for what you have right now…the more grateful you are, the more you get."

So what are we truly, beyond words, grateful for this August? Being included in Oprah's SuperSoul 100 group of spirit workers who are helping create meaningful change in the world.

For anyone not in the know, here's a quick rundown: Inspired by her Emmy-winning interview series Super Soul Sunday, Oprah’s SuperSoul 100 is a collective of artists, entrepreneurs, educators and otherwise mega-inspiring people, hand-selected by Ms. Winfrey herself. OWN calls it “a dynamic group of 100 trailblazers whose vision and life’s work are bringing a higher level of consciousness to the world around them and encouraging others to do the same.”

A few months back, we traveled to LA to celebrate with our fellow SuperSoul 100 inductees and were honored to get some face time with Oprah herself. We’ve had a lot of amazing moments throughout our Sakara journey, but this one might just take the cake. Suffice it to say that being invited to join Oprah’s crew is 1) truly incredible, 2) one of the most staggering examples of #ThoughtsToThings we’ve ever experienced and 3) something for which we are so, so endlessly grateful. Grateful for all the efforts that have carried us thus far, grateful to be included among such esteemed company and grateful to be given the opportunity to spread our message ever further and wider.

With love, light and gratitude,

Whitney & Danielle
