We gave this classic cocktail an extra-refreshing yet sensual twist by adding a squeeze of perfumed Meyer lemon juice and vanilla-infused simple syrup to stir the senses and arouse the spirit.
Ever since the Aztecs enjoyed their signature vanilla-scented, love-inducing elixir xocolatl, this fragrant pod has been notorious for its naughty charms. When the Europeans got their hands on the spice, doctors began prescribing it to stimulate sexual appetite, and women began dabbing it behind their ears to draw an admirer’s gaze. As you sip the beverage, invite your senses to play.
If you can’t find Meyer lemons, use one-half tangerine or grapefruit juice and one-half lemon juice.
TIPS FOR DRINKING SANS HANGOVER
In the true spirit of eating clean and playing dirty, there requires a little strategy prior to letting loose. Before and after you drink, make sure to supplement with B vitamins. Your liver is taxed to metabolize the alcohol, pulling critical stores from other cell structures, organs, and resources as it processes the toxins. Replenish with a full spectrum vitamin B supplement and you will be granted an evening of libations without a jittery hangover, you will cultivate a well-functioning liver, and help with next-day brain fog since B vitamins are critical for cognitive function.

For the cocktail:
Directions:
1. Make the vanilla syrup: In a small pot, combine the honey with 1 cup of water. Slice the vanilla bean down the center and scrape out the seeds into the pot, then add the pod. Heat over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved completely and the mixture has come to a boil, 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and pour into a jar. Let the syrup cool completely before using. Store any leftover syrup in the fridge for up to 1 week.
2. Make the cocktail: In a shaker, add a handful of ice and pour over the lemon juice, gin, and 1 to 2 tablespoons of the vanilla syrup, to taste. Shake vigorously and strain into a highball glass. Add the tonic and ice to fill the glass, then garnish with the flowers.
